what is the mind? and what does it look like?!

I’ve always had this fascination with the mind…where does the mental world intersect with the physical?
Is it the same, or different?
Do we share a mind or are all of ours truly separate?
Is the mind one thing, but our consciousness, or our ability to tap into ‘the mind’, what separates us?
Does consciousness come from the brain, or does it act as a kind of receiver for it?
Mind, body and spirit - but what’s the difference?
So many questions, SO FEW ANSWERS!!!

I suppose that’s why it fascinates me. Because there’s no right or wrong answer.

Beyond this, it’s the sheer diversity of human beings physically, but more interestingly to me, in thoughts and feelings.

When we’re feeling sad, what does that really look like? How can we manifest that? Can someone else understand our feeling without the need for words? Is there such thing as universality in mentality?

When we talk about ‘the spectrum’ of autism, I can’t help but think we all have such tendencies. Sure, they’re to varying degrees, but this spectrum stops becoming a single line and morphs into a 3D, constantly moving, gelatinous, ‘Flubber’-like substance (#riprobinwilliams).

It’s through this thing that we perceive and, depending on its state, we perceive things differently. That is what I try to depict with Bio-Mind. This essential kind of organic “substance”. And it just keeps flowing through me…no matter how I’m feeling, I can always draw it and I know that it is inherently a reflection of ‘me’ - whatever that means!

Why is every Bio-Minds cut off by the canvas? The fact that it’s just a part of the mind, creates space for the unknown. Perhaps there are other parts of the mind that represent different feelings. Perhaps the rest of it is connected to other people’s minds. Whatever it is, this makes space for the ‘beyond’. Because, no representation of the mind could ever possibly be complete. And it's this incompleteness that is so important to convey in order to touch on some kind of truth.

The background to each Bio-Mind is something I’m developing too. The environment of the mind has an effect on how we feel. Whether as the viewer or as the Bio-Mind ourselves. Different textures, of course, add further nuance to ‘the feeling’ of the mind.
